Dios
My night began with a climb through my secret passage through a wire fence and then around the corner. I arrive to my favorite destination – a musty, grimy and collage art-filled garage. It was a cooler night, but the sweat filled the room. This is the BIKO house in Isla Vista; my escape from Isla Vista. The arts of all sorts is celebrated here, in a garage the size of my small flat.
This particular night I ventured over to listen to a band that goes by Dios. I waited patiently as another band played, and then it came. For the first time I forgot where I was. The acoustics at the BIKO garage is mediocre- I tend to always think to myself as I listen to music in this venue “imagine the sounds if the acoustics were better.” Not this night, it never crossed my mind. Dios blew my mind. This band made sounds I had never heard before in BIKO. The band transported me to a whole new venue with their brilliance. Hands down, best music I have experienced in my favorite graffiti art covered, dimly lit garage.
